Battle of the bands!

Firstly congratulastions to B.I.R.D for winning The "Uplay cafe" Battle of the bands and commiserations to Thunderstruck who played a great set.The night was a great success.The Imelda May tribute act kicked off the night for us in Rocking fashion. Thunderstruck were the first of finalists to come on. They gave everything in their set and played songs like "Chelsea Dagger" and "All The Small Things". Bird then came to the stage once thunderstruck had finished. The support for Bird was crazy. They Played covers like "Propane Nightmares" and "Pretender" and then played Originals like "Pineapple Juice"(which there is a link to on this page) and their new song "Start Me Up Again" The originals were just as well known as the covers from the great reaction from the crowd.Eventually David o Connor and other guest judges and the crowds vote decided that Bird were the battle of the bands champions. Once again congrats to Bird and lets hope this brings them on to greater things. Its great to see one of the bands featured on this page doin so well!

The Emergency:

Possibly one of the most exciting to come out of Wexford. The band Consists of Mark Walsh(vocals and guitar), and Simon O Carroll(vocals and guitar). The Emergency are not long on the Wexford music scene but they have taken off like a storm. they recently got to the semi final of "Battle of the Bands" in the Uplay cafe in Wexford and are now entering another "Battle of the Bands in the coming weeks. No doubt they will do well in the battle and no doubt they will move up higher along the music ladder not only in Wexford but in Ireland. They have one original (Music to My Ears) and with many more lined they will rise and rise!

B.i.r.d:

"B.I.R.D" are a five piece band from Wexford town. Each member ultra talented at their respective instruments.They started out in the summer of 2008. The bands first gig was on the 27th of October called "Oxjam". This in aid of Oxfam . They play many types of covers like Lady Gaga, Killers and MGMT.
The band: Nick Sheridan (vocals) has one of the purest voices you will hear.His cool, bone chilling vocals can be changed into raw emotion in the blink of an eye. Pat Geoghegan (Lead Guitar), this guy is the perfect lead guitarist. Very professional when he's on stage and in the studio. Brendan Fitzgerald (Piano, Rhythm Guitar) is the driving force in the way of songwriting and creative flair.Nigel Usher (Bass) has this unmistakable talent of just being able to play whatever instrument he picks up. He makes Bass playing look simple! Finally James Cooney (Drums) is the rock of the band. He hads this great passion enthusiasm and total professionalism to every aspect of "B.I.R.D"
